Blast Clean & Coatings was contracted to deliver a complete fire protection and decorative coating system to the structural steel framework of the new Barnecutt Bakery facility. The project involved both intumescent fire protection and a high-quality topcoat finish in RAL 7016, delivered in full accordance with PPG’s system specifications.

• Apply a compliant intumescent coating system to pre-primed steel
• Ensure inter-coat adhesion using a tie coat
• Achieve a durable, decorative finish in RAL 7016
• Deliver the project on time and to technical specification

The steel arrived pre-primed by the fabricator. We applied SigmaCover 280 as a tie coat to ensure excellent adhesion between the primer and the intumescent layer. Following this, we applied PPG Steelguard 851 as the fire protection coating. Once cured, a topcoat of PPG Steelguard 2458 in RAL 7016 was applied to achieve a durable and visually uniform finish, in full compliance with PPG specifications.
